SCENIC FLOAT TRIP
season mid April through late October
(minimum - 2 - persons)
The trip begins approximately seven to eight miles upriver on the
Rio Grande' and ends at our riverside restaurant, which features
the full service facilities of Embudo Station. We offer both
indoor and patio dining directly adjacent to the river, an art
gallery, a store and crafts shop, and our beer brewery, in
addition to changing rooms for our rafting patrons.
This stretch of the Rio Grande River offers 1 1/'2 to 2 1/2 hours
relaxing pleasure in a secluded pastural settings with an
abundance of wild life and riverside flora. We have sighted bald
and golden eagles, blue herons, a variety of wild ducks, red
tailed hawks, coyotes and black bear, as well as about 40 species
of bird life on these river trips. In the Fall, the Rio Grande'
cottonwood trees turn brilliant golden hues, against the
backgrounds of a slow-moving river and a crystal blue sky.
Many artists, such as oil painters, watercolorists and
photographers, have taken this trip and experienced the tranquil
beauty of Nature and the River.
The river float is calm and less crowded
than other 'whitewater' stretches of the Rio. This river trip
hence offers pleasure for all ages of fun seekers. All
participants are welcome - adventurers from two year olds to
ninety year olds. The quiet stretches of the river allow both
kids and adults to try their hand at the oars of our comfortable
fourteen foot rubber rafts. On warmer days, we encourage you to
stop, sunbathe and swim in our 'favorite swimming hole' on the
Rio. We provide soft drinks and snacks - but gourmet picnics
complete to the 'chilled champagne' can be arranged.
